"A Windy Wedding//Kyle and Naomi"

I had the privilege to be apart of this sweet and fun couples big day on a very windy day on Oct 15th, 2016. It was a day of the "biggest storm in 30 years" and to say I was nervous to get over there on the other side of the Hood Canal Bridge was an understatement! Not just because of the storm but because of the wind and the rain and the bridge possibly closing the only way to make your way over there because the other way had road blockage from flooding, what if the bridge closed and we were stuck on the wrong side? What if the road is blocked getting to the park? What about if the power goes out? Where, oh where, are we going to do their portraits with all this rain?!?! SO many thoughts running through my head as I prepped for this windy wedding in Port Townsend Wa.

I was going along with Caitlin Schiffman Photography to shoot along side her and she had the same thoughts and concerns as me, but we were determined to rock this wedding and keep our cool despite what the news was saying. The bride, Naomi, was completely calm leading up to her day, she is a special lady with a calm and collective personality that puts everyone around her at ease. She was a truly wonderful bride to work with and you could just tell that she was so happy to be marrying her groom, Kyle. Kyle, he is an outgoing guy with a big personality who makes you feel like you are friends with him even if you have only met him a handful of times in the past. These two were so great to work with on their wedding day. They have such a cute relationship and more then once during their portrait session they would be making jokes at one another or bursting out in the theme song to "Adventure Time" they really have something special together and I was so thrilled they were ok with all the wind/rain/clouds because it really made them shine in their pictures! Caitlin and I had to get creative and do some fun umbrella shots while it was raining out and they were so cute huddle under the umbrella together! It made for some great shots and the fact that they went with it and did amazing just speaks to how they are as people and as a couple. It was such a fun experience and their careful manner really made the pictures great.

They got married in a cute little barn that was decorated with burlap, pink roses and pictures of them everywhere! They had brunch as their meal at the reception and had waffles decked out with toppings! They had a lot of forest inspired décor with a wood cake stand and greenery in the bouquets. Her bouquet had succulents in it which I loved! It was really a great set up and all of the pictures of them as a couple and when they were younger was a cute touch. They had a friend marry them which I always think makes such a great personal ceremony, unique to the two of them. Prior to the ceremony, their friends got together a nurf gun war between the wedding party and it was fun to take pictures of them all shooting each other. This was the type of day and wedding it was, it was a lot of fun and relaxed and it made for a really great and unique experience and I was so fortunate to be apart of it. Oh, and that epic storm? Turned out not to be so bad and there were rainbows in the skies on the way home.

I wish these two years of happiness and laughter and a love to last a lifetime.

Here is what Caitlin Schiffman Photography had to say about the day

"This wedding was a little more personal for me since Kyle has been a close friend of my husband and I for many years now. He's one of the kindest and funniest people I have ever had the chance to know. When Kyle met Naomi I could tell that this girl was so special. He lit up at the very mention of her. I remember Kyle calling me months ago to ask me what I thought about this girl because he was pretty sure as he said "She's the one". Getting to know Naomi I honestly understood because she is just one of those people who puts you at ease when you talk to her. She's so sweet and full of the life and let's be honest they are beautiful together! Seriously look at these two! When they asked me to do their wedding photos I was so honored and ecstatic. Just looking at these two you can tell how in love they are. On the day of their wedding it was supposed to be "The worst storm to hit the Pacific North West" in like 25 years or something. So the day before I am on the phone with what you would expect to be a stressed out frantic bride - yet Naomi was the exact opposite of that. She took every thing in stride and kept a calm attitude through the whole ordeal. Did it rain? Yes. Did we skip out on getting some absolutely amazing photos in the rain? Heck no. They rocked their portraits in the storm and the best part they were literally laughing through it! These two let nothing get in the way of their special day and I was thrilled with them for that. There was a nurf war between the wedding party (those pictures are pretty spectacular) it spoke volumes to who Kyle and Naomi really are. They are such a fun loving and energetic couple. The ceremony was gorgeous and the reception was so relaxed and joyful. This day was full of laughter and love and so many memories. I am so excited to get to see these two grow in their love for one another over the years and wish them nothing but the best."
